The Cedar Tree Foundation is a small family fund created by the late pediatrician and entrepreneur, Dr. David H. Smith. Dr. Smith believed in the power of individuals and organizations to make significant changes in our world, and we reflect that belief in our grantmaking.
Granting Areas
The Cedar Tree Foundation's grant making focuses
on the following areas of concern:
Sustainable Agriculture
Environmental Education
Environmental Health
We give particular consideration to proposals that demonstrate strong elements of environmental justice, and conservation.
We do not accept unsolicited proposals, but we welcome letters of inquiry from U.S. based, non-profit organizations working within our program areas.
The Cedar Tree Foundation also funds the David H. Smith Conservation Research Fellowship Program, which provides post-doctoral fellowships in
conservation biology, in partnership with the Society for Conservation Biology. www.smithfellows.org
