Rooted in Justice 2025-2026
May 2026 Program Update:
The Cedar Tree Foundation is excited to announce 7 new grant awards for the 2025-2026 grant cycle of the Rooted in Justice Program. See full list below.
The Rooted in Justice program used a Letter of Inquiry process for the first time in this grant cycle, with 55 organizations responding. 16 organizations were invited to submit full proposals, which were reviewed by an outside review panel. In the end, 7 organizations rose to the top and were awarded 2-year Rooted in Justice grants in the amount of $25,000/year with an additional $6,000 in professional development funding (half of which is designated for youth professional development).
As always, Cedar Tree would like to take this opportunity to thank the outside review panel who had the challenging task of reviewing the finalist proposals and recommending the cohort. They approached this task with thoughtfulness, and we appreciate their time and care.
This Rooted in Justice cohort is the last cohort of new grantees in this program. The Cedar Tree Foundation is spending down all of its assets and closing (see announcement at top of page for more details). Starting in Fall 2026, the Rooted in Justice program will shift focus to support current grantees and program alumni. There will be no additional opportunities for funding through this program.
Please find below a list of all Rooted in Justice grantees over time, with links to their organizations. We hope you will be as inspired by them as we are.
